Red Wings

Inspired by my friend who is writing about photography and poetry, I wrote this today. It is based on a true story. Photo by me. It really is.DSC_0251

Red Wings

I cross his path.

A Sentry.

He circles above.

A Cold War Soviet soldier.

His blackish blue shadow

hovers over the

pebbled footpath.

Aware of my quiet steps.

He dips in and out of the blue

taunting the heaviness

that keeps me earthbound.

He crosses my path.

His black silhouette

looming like rain

clouds ready to burst.

My heart races.

His red wings catch

a single sun lit ray.

Shine like a medal pinned

to the chest of a decorated

General.
