Publishing has changed.
Immediate gratification is the norm for questions asked and answered. Once we create, we put it out there for all to see. As a poet, I feel fairly confident that my words won’t be stolen or held hostage. Mediocre poets, like myself, generally write for themselves or occasionally a kindred soul.
However, many writers have good reason to be protective of their words. They are preparing for book launches, etc. I am no expert, but I have taken a few workshops on the topic. Since my day job is that of college professor, I have to be aware of fair use practices for the classroom and learning platforms.
I was recently asked a question about this issue. I thought it would be a good place for us all to weigh in.
